Whopper Rat

pest control wirral and chester whopper

All sizes of rats are encountered in domestic properties but occasionally some true whoppers turn up. This bad boy was bigger than my size 10 boot.

No wonder the customer could hear it making itself at home in the kitchen in the night time.

More information on our rat control services can be found here.

Alley Bin Bags

January 13, 2016 by merseypest Leave a Comment

pest control wirral and chester bin bags

Shared alleys often cause a problem to local residents. If waste is not put in to wheelie bins or only put out on bin collection day it will attract vermin.

This alley was full of bin bags. You can see from the photo how rats have pulled the bags open and have started to feed on the waste food inside.

Proper waste management is needed to be able to provide good pest control for the residents.

In this particular alley multiple houses had become nesting sites for rats.

Drain Inspection to Find the Cause of a Rat Problem

January 10, 2016 by merseypest Leave a Comment

pest control wirral and chester drain inspection

A drain inspection carried out to find the cause of a rat problem.

The customer has had 2 rat infestations in her house over 2 years. Each time we are called back to kill the rats when they either dig out from under the foundation or find their way through the cavities in to the roof space. The 3rd time it happened enough was enough!!

After the second infestation we had fixed external rodent control points to the outside wall of the house. They provide a permanent perimeter defence against pests.

When the 3rd infestation occurred we checked the external boxes to find no takes. This clearly indicated the problem was coming from a problem from under the house in the drains and not from a surface source.

We asked our friends at ratdetection.com to survey the drains for us. The photo shows owner Davy feeding the camera into the drain.

With the camera he managed to find one uncapped drain from where an extension had been put in and a waste pipe had been moved, and 2 other possible problems.

To fix the problem an excavation will be required to cap the drain and sort the other drain problems. This will be carried out in the next couple of weeks (watch this space for updates).

With the drains fixed there will be no further issue for the customer. An ongoing problem final solved as all options are slowly removed.

Drains are often the cause of rat infestation. A full drain survey and map costs £150 plus VAT. The excavation to fix is more on top but it is a permanent fix to a horrible problem that would reoccur until the problem was fixed.

Pest Control Wirral and Chester

This rat and its family had been terrorising a family in Moreton. Control measures were used to kill them.

When pulling the kickboards off the units in the kitchen we found this rat in this condition.

He has been killed by the poison and his friends and family have consumed him. Waste not want not…

Large Rat Irby

November 20, 2015 by merseypest Leave a Comment

Pest Control Wirral and Chester

This large rat was killed after a treatment in Irby, Wirral. It had been gaining access to the roof space via a hole chewed under a roof tile.

It had been feeding from a neighbours bird feeder. The neighbour had watched with horror as it chased birds away from the food and then ran up a wall and in to the roof space next door.

Once the home owner was aware of there visitor they acted quickly in calling us to deal with it. A 2 visit control treatment quickly dealt with the problem.
